Millmerran Show Society Memoir - by Neville Fitzgerald
A Meeting was held on the 24th March 1924 and a Commitee was formed
which was eventually called the Millmerran Show Society. On the 21st April
1925, the first Show was held. The Commi9ee had bought 100 acres of land
and organinsed a Show.
The Show President was Jack Rademy, who, sometime after the 1893 flood,
rode his horse from where he had been jackerooing in the Northern Territory
to manage Yandilla Station. He had on his commi9ee, 5 Patrons, 12 members
and 10 Vice Presidents. On Show day, everyone had a job to do. One was
cutting and repairing the fence after the people returned to the special train
which had run from Toowoomba. Another had to keep the arena clear of
prickly pear. There was a fenced ring, ca9le pens, and a camp for
campdraLing. The pavilion was a marquee, and a new pavilion was not built
until the following year.
